HOME AIR QUALITY & SLEEP ANALYSIS REPORT

IS YOUR HOME MAKING YOU SICK?

SLEEP DISRUPTORS:

Sleep helps our bodies recover physically, encourages better mental health, and improves our performance levels the next day at work or at school. Inadequate or poor quality sleep can therefore lead to serious long-term health problems. While there are a vast number of internal and eternal factors that can affect sleep, some of them are part of your bedroom‘s environment and can be controlled. Here are a list of some of the contaminants

CARBON DIOXIDE:

High levels of CO2 , in your bedroom can impair your sleep in several ways. It can take longer to fall asleep and your sleep can be be more frequently interrupted. In studies, people reported feeling sleepier and less able to concentrate the next day.

Correct ventilation is the key to maintaining healthy levels of CO2 in the room.

TEMPERATURE:

Your bodies temperature decreases naturally during sleep , and studies confirm that a cool, but not cold, room will help you settle into and maintain sleep throughout the night While everyone’s “normal” temperature isn’t the same, keeping your bedroom at a temperature between  (16 -22*c), give  or take a few degrees, is ideal for sound sleep.

HUMIDITY:

Humidity primarily contributes to your comfort and therefore can also impact your sleep quality. Excessive dry air can cause irritation, making you cough while you are trying to sleep. Try usung a humidifier if fall below 30% in the colder winter months. For optimal sleep, the ideal range for relative humidity should be between 30-40%

                                                               IAQ CONDITIONS  TO CONSIDER

RADON:

Radon is the result of the breakdown of uranium in the Earth that rises from the ground and enters our homes. The amount of Radon emitted from the ground and the amount that actually enters our home can change due to the following reasons: temperature, pressure, humidity, & ventilation.

ALLERGY:

From dust mites in bedding and pet fur in carpets to mould in bathrooms and utility rooms, exposure to these and other airborne particles can lead to an allergic reaction. Even the use of  certain cleaning products, aerosols and air fresheners can add to the level of contaminants which is why the American Lung Association warns against them. The use of plug-in air fresheners & perfumes is  a high risk of causing long-term health effects , especially with people already with serious lung issues and children with developing lungs. The long-term use of these products can lead to serious health effects like asthma and COPD, Remember, a clean home does not smell and covering up possibly dangerous odours like mould, with air fresheners and perfumes is a very dangerous solution.
